This is done to regenerate bone that has been lost around teeth because of Periodontitis. The stability of a tooth depends on the bone volume and bone density around the root (roots) of a tooth.  When we  do this surgery, we use bone graft particles from a bone bank.   They provide scaffolding for your bone producing cells (osteoblasts) to deposit new bone to replace the bone destroyed by your Periodontitis.
